Reflection: Weeks 1 & 2

Week 1
  • The first day of class was interesting. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect besides what I've heard from previous students. We all took part in the group rope activity in which we had to ensure everyone's feet fit entirely (flat footed) inside a circular rope. This encouraged us to work together and to think outside of the box.
  • After the activity we began to experience the "blogging"portion of the class. I had never used a blog before and was a bit intimidated at first. I thought the fact that the class was hybrid and mainly online was so cool because I've never had a teacher care so much about effectively fixing the problem(s) they are teaching us about. I think it'll be a great example how even a small group can start changing the way the world works. Each of us can influence others or at least pass on our own knowledge after this class.

Week 2
  • This week started off with a PowerPoint discussion on different quotes and the meanings behind what we thought the words meant. I enjoyed this opening discussion. It was unique to see how people viewed and interpreted certain words. My favorite topic idea was "where flowers can grow so does hope."There were many following ideas and topics ranging from small items to larger ones.
  • This lead us into SNACK TIME!  Keith brought the BEST snack ever with his homemade chocolate pretzel recipe and set the bar for every other snack to a high degree of expertise.  I was so impressed with the fact that Keith had overcome a personal life threatening issue and even learned how to make his own secret recipe for chocolate! Genius, however he wouldn't share the knowledge wealth!  :(
  • Afterward, we went over any blogging problems and reviewed what was needed to the rest of the semester. Surprisingly I was ahead of the pack (only because I assumed something was due and did it in advance) but none the less I felt quite good about it being completed. The week went by quickly and we had to finish our introductory post and editing. I felt a little nervous but Hailey and I worked through it together and once it was finished it all seemed a lot easier.
  • These first two weeks we all took a lot of information in and I think it will be a good payoff once we continue on blogging! Happy blogging everyone :)
